Villages FL Factoid- Golf statistics in The Villages FL

The Villages Homeowners Association is a great source of information! The VHA publishes a monthly newsletter that’s available on the internet. This Villages golf factoid was published in the most recent newsletter. It’s definitely interesting information about golf in the Villages FL.

The Villages has more holes of golf than any other community (facility) in the world with 504 and adding another 36 within a year (Mission Hills in China is second with 216 holes).　At buildout there will be a total of 621 holes of golf!

Villagers played over 2.5 million rounds of golf last year, losing an estimated 5.8 million golf balls.　 When the Pensacola nine of Bonifay County Club opens soon, its par three, third hole with an island green may become The Villages’ favorite hole while claiming a record number of lost balls.

The Villages FL – Camp Villages

The Villages FL – Camp Villages!

Camp Villages is a program that offers activities for Villages residents and their grandchildren to enjoy together! Camp Villages offers a variety of programs and activities!

Camp Villages usually starts around Easter and runs for eight weeks, selling out every event, every year, with over 7000 Villagers and grandchildren participating. This is the largest event in The Villages!

This year is the 12th year that the Villages recreation department has sponsored Camp Villages. The 2012 Camp Villages program begins on June 1st and ends August 3rd.

Activities are appropriate for ages 5 – 16. There are some activities that are specially designed for teens which are labled “Just for Teens” and are appropriate for ages 13- 16. Activities include outdoor games, water sports, archery, art & crafts and line dancing just to name a few.

There are some really unique activities scheduled such as “Star in your Own Movie“. Be the star in a choreographed movie and receive a DVD of your performance. Children must be 7+ to participate.

Tubing Down The Ichetucknee River. Participants will meet at Laurel Manor Recreation Center where they hop on a bus to the river. It’s a 3 hour float on tubes down the beautiful spring fed river with a stop halfway for lunch. Children must be 13-16 to participate.

Golf Cart Amazing Race Scavenger Hunt. Get clues and hop in a golf cart. Travel around The Villages in search of the answers then back to Bacall recreation center for pizza and prizes.

Camp Villages requires that grandparents attend each session with their grandchildren. This is a positive bonding experience for both children and grandparents.

The Villages FL Polo

The Villages FL – Polo is a big sport in The Villages FL!

We attended a match this weekend and loved every minute of it.  Spectators can participate by stomping down the divots in between chukkers!   It’s a great time!  The Villages polo facility is top notch and the level of play is excellent.

Villages FL St Patty’s Day Parade

The Villages Fl – One of my favorite events in The Villages is the St. Patty’s Day celebration and parade! 

This year the event  includes parades at both town squares.     Here”s a video of our friend Fran dancing an Irish Jig at Lake Sumter Landing at last years event.   The bagpiper was only to happy to oblige him!    Make sure to come on out on Friday March 16th to enjoy the festivities.

BBQ Bash in The Villages FL Mar 3rd 2012

The annual BBQ Bash will be held again March 3rd at Spanish Springs in The Villages FL.   

The smell of BBQ wafting through the air is enough to make anyone’s mouth water.   This year’s BBQ Bash is set for Saturday March 3rd from 1pm to 4pm at Spanish Springs.    Crews will be up all night preparing there BBQ in competition for the coveted Golden  Buffalo award for best BBQ!  

There are even more competitors this year and it will be the best BBQ Bash ever.   The event this year is from 1p to 4pm right on the square.    If you love BBQ don’t miss out!   All proceeds from the BBQ Bash will benefit the Villages Charter School.

This year is the 11th year for the BBQ bash and it’s a great way to support education.   60 plus varieties of BBQ will be served up including pork, beef and chicken.

 The Villages FL – This year Golfest returns to The Villages on Friday March 2nd and Saturday March 3rd.  

This is a great event and always well attended.   This year the event will be held at The Villages polo fields!    There will be some great contests and giveaways so don’t miss out!
